Franconia Berlin to Kaiserslautern

Our history

Franconia Berlin was founded in Berlin in 1850. We do many things differently today than we did 150 years ago. And we will continue to change. Nevertheless, we believe that our values are more modern than ever. With this tradition behind us, we take on the challenges of our time.

Mission statement

The Corps Franconia wants to educate its members to become honorable and tolerant personalities.

Franconia does not recognize a special concept of honor that distinguishes between simple human dignity and corps student honor.

An uncompromising commitment to this human dignity has always been part of the essence of the corps student idea, with the obligation to respect this and the views of others as much as one's own.

Through self-discipline, impeccable conduct and public spirit, the Corps brothers should represent German academics everywhere in a dignified manner, without arrogance or presumption, and act as responsible members of their university.

The corps cultivates a friendly, cordial relationship between corps brothers for life.

Principles

Tolerance

Tolerance and respect for human dignity, especially towards those with different opinions on ethical, religious and political issues.

Covenant of life

The Lebensbund principle is a form of social contract in which the association provides the house, know-how and resources to help the younger generation with their studies and their path into working life.

Maturity principle

Principle according to which all members must not only be students or graduates of a course of study, but must also have the Abitur (Latin: Matura).

Scale

The Corps Franconia Berlin zu Kaiserslautern cultivates student fencing.

The Weinheim Corps

The  Weinheim Seniors Convention (WSC) is the umbrella organization of corps at technical colleges and universities. The WSC currently has 59 corps at 23 German universities. The corps in the WSC wear colors and stand by the mensur. The WSC and its member corps uphold the principle of tolerance. Membership is not tied to a specific nationality, skin color or denomination. Only males are accepted. Around 1,600 students and around 8,000 working academics describe themselves as Weinheim Corps students.

The WSC is an association of individual corps as direct members of the umbrella organization. These are united at university location level in local senior citizens' conventions, which must consist of at least two corps. At university locations with only one corps, this has to join the SC of a neighboring university location, in our case the Darmstädter Senioren Convent (DSC).

The cartel

Together with the Corps Normannia Hanover and the Corps Suevo-Guestphalia Munich the Corps Franconia Berlin zu Kaiserslautern has formed the Green Cartel for over 140 years. Relations between the young students in the cartel are very good and are reinforced by several meetings each semester. The individual corps see themselves as one corps at three university locations. As a Berliner Franke, you not only have a network in Kaiserslautern, but also in Hanover and Munich, which is constantly expanding and, from experience, has a very intimate, friendly and fraternal touch.

Become part of a lively community of young students

We help each other with our studies, do a lot together and prepare ourselves for working life.
